India is known as a well-cultured nation where people are quite traditional, making the land, a ‘Land of Gods and Goddesses'. Well, there are demons too who have captured some feet of area in this sacred land.
Coming from a big, well-to-do family, Ritika was a girl who was treated like a child but expected to behave as an adult, in other words, she was a teenager. Fun-loving cousins, crazy friends; she had an enjoyable environment around her that an ideal teenage life must consist of. Besides all her fun and being a menace, she didn't let all these hinder her studies. She was good in studies and could make good use of her brains.
No compromise in studies was one of her principles she followed strictly and so she used to go for extra classes. She travelled a journey consuming 15 minutes everyday from her home to the extra class until a misery struck her that created a hell of fear in her.
She was travelling at a moderate speed and was heading towards her classes when suddenly a hatchback, with 4 boys, or 4 hooligans I must say passed by her, giving her a close call and stopped in front of her. She questioned them the reason behind such an act but those guys threw deaf ears on her. They grabbed her hand, pulled her out of her moped and dragged her into their car. They thought the girl to be a toy and they undertook an act which was too inhuman.
One after another, all the four demons misused the girl, and threw her out of the moving car on the middle of the road. Before throwing her off, the rapists even blackmailed her that they wouldn't hesitate in repeating that tragedy if she opened her mouth and spoke anything about them to anyone. She was somewhat conscious and somehow managed drag herself to the nearby hospital. The doctors tried to find an identity of the girl and contact her parents but she had a lock in the cell phone. However, her parents were contacted when she somehow gathered energy to speak the mobile number.
After the treatment, when she regained consciousness, she was completely blank and dissolved in fear. Her mind was full of numbness and her body shivered as if some spell had been casted upon her. She could think of nothing but all that was seen on her face were tears running continuously out from her eyes. Not a word she was able to speak of. She hugged her mother for a couple of minutes and cried and cried.
It takes the heart of a lion to recover back from such a tragedy and Ritika possessed one. But whenever she stood in front of the mirror, she was easily distracted by the scars on her neck and on her face made by those rapists. That would weaken her knees and she used to sit in the corner and just cry. Whenever she closed her eyes, trying to sleep, all she could see in the darkness of her eyes were the past miseries she faced. Smile on her face was like rains in a desert. She asked herself till when she will be a coward and keep crying. She talked to her mom and asked her to make a complaint in the police station. But whenever she talked about the complaint, her mom used to remind of what her dad spoke of. Her dad refused for doing so as he said that they had an image in the society and all the eyes nearby would see them with a vision of shame. And Ritika could do nothing but sit hopelessly. She sank more in grief that her own parents were of no help. She soon realized that she had to stand up on her own legs if she wanted to seek justice.
She contacted a friend of her who worked in a news channel and narrated the entire story to her and what she was willing to do. Fascinated by her valour, her friend assured her of help and arranged an interview with her that would be broadcast on television. She spread her voice throughout the nation via the media to make those hooligans fear who polluted the cultured land by staying in it and at the same time, raising the bravery in every women across nation.
After the interview, she saw her dad and mom waiting outside for her. She knew she had gone against her parents. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she spoke nothing but hugged her dad. To her surprise, her dad hugged her back tightly and said, "I am proud of you my daughter. I never thought my daughter could be so brave." Tears of happiness flushed out of his eyes too and he kissed her forehead.
The bravery of Ritika had become the word of every mouth. Her tough nature yielded favourable results. Those rapists were caught and sentenced to death by the court. Justice was showered upon Ritika and her family.
We all have a tremendously great habit of locking our mobile phones, especially teenagers. There is nothing so private in our mobile phones and needs a lock unless we possess some security password of a bank or a master plan for some attack. There is no need to keep a lock on mobile phones otherwise one can be in serious trouble if that person is stuck in a situation like this.
Many parents suppress issues like this thinking that people will think ill of the family instead of supporting their daughter. The society is not at all important. More the mouths, more the talks. It is the foremost duty of parents to stand besides their daughter and encourage her.
To boys, just beard won't make you a man. When a girl is alone, she is not an opportunity but she is a responsibility. A real man is someone who respects the women.
Our nation is known as a cultured nation but it still possesses various bugs that pollute the sacred land!
