The Gentleman’s Sport

[I would like to be grateful to my very dear friend and a football freak, Miss Ashmita Patel who suggested me this topic of football to write on and provided me the encouragement to write on this!]

You breathe air, you eat food, you drink water. Do you love someone or something so much for which you can give up any of these things? Yes? Then that’s passion! This word energizes me to a whole new level from where it’s next to impossible for me to level down. And for me, passion, love, craziness, insanity, lust, madness, addiction, all means the same-FOOTBALL!

A sport, not just a game is something for which I can give up food and play whole day. Passion for anything doesn’t rises out suddenly. It takes time and skill over it. My skills in football? Dude, you don’t want know how much I have sweated to learn the basics of my religion-football. I respect the beautiful sport; I love it from all my heart. Football is a religion, I am a footballer.

You must be thinking how mad am I exaggerating so much on a simple sport, aren’t you? This is passion, my friends. The passion is irresistible.

Not a love at first sight situation, but I fell in love with it in 11th standard. How romantic na! LOL. Jokes apart, you wouldn’t believe me but I used to hate football. Yes, you read right. I used to hate it. I found it worthless. Few men running from one corner to another for scoring a goal, that too for 90 minutes on an enormous rectangular grassy ground. Man! That’s so tiring.

But my life had different plans for me. While in school, my other friends had interest in football and so they used to play during the break time. Well, I didn’t have any interest but I thought to give it a try. I ENJOYED! Yes, the sport which I hated at first was enjoyed by me. And moreover, I used to play more of it.

It doesn’t end here. The climax still waits. I was an empty mind box with no skill. Interest is a different thing and passion is on a complete new level. I had interest so I didn’t bother much about it but gradually I started developing my skills, not enough though. I used to be just a player among the team in my friend circle. Today, I am the one who select players for my team.

You may be thinking why I am describing all this. Football is a sport whose beauty can never be described through words. It has the capability to morph the enemies to friends, hatred to love, interest to passion. Undoubtedly, all sport games are good, but to me, football is my passion, my drug. Whatever you may call it!

Want to know the best thing about football? The legendary players, while playing hurt each other and cause injury, unintentionally but in the end, the hug each other, exchange their t-shirts. No quarrels, no altercations. Not because they have to maintain their dignity but they have respect for the beautiful game and respect for the skills the other players possess. Now you know why football is called The Gentleman’s Game. Proud to be a FOOTBALLER!

The Apprehension

[Download this anecdote for free:
]

[Before starting this anecdote, I would like to acknowledge a very good friend of mine, my prime partner, Ram Pandya who encouraged me to write on the raging topic of today!]

On normal circumstances, assume your consciousness to be
suspended for few hours and suddenly an ‘idiot’ proceeds along with the intention to disintegrate your peace in the nap with his stupid tease. You will be raged, furiated, probably kill that fellow, won’t you?

I have hit the place on the dart where I wanted to. Our fellow beings, living in cages, who are dumb, whose screams are left unheard, whose feelings are considered numb face these irritating deeds everyday, in fact every moment.

Animals are the prosperity of every nation. The backbone of a nation’s prestige. Some people out there, act so much juvenile, they tend to tease the animals, the birds in the cage in spite of a clear sign put over there which says,” Do NOT tease the animals”.

I, along with my fellow buddies, visited a ‘baug’ recently. Such a beautiful place one can ever visit where you can find so much peace amidst the nature; you can say we were in a complete different world surfeit of nature and just nature.
We visualized different species of animals, so beautiful, so eye-catching; one can easily get afflated by the ‘engineering’ of nature.

Entering the empire of the KING, the lion, sitting there in ‘like a boss’. So enormous. But the irony was intensely felt that the KING himself was a slave in his own empire! The feelings of him overlooked as numbness by the anti-social social beings left me and my friends think to what extent people can act so illiterate! What a waste of knowledge they create when they themselves act so foolish!

The uncivilized bunch of civilians teased the animals in the cage that were sleeping. Let me ask you the same question again that I asked you earlier,” What would you do if your friend came over to you while you were sleeping and he teased you and went away?”
Before causing any harm to others, just subrogate yourselves in place of them.

A photographer, present over there, well-dressed, aviator sunglasses put on, suited himself as a man and a nature-lover, capturing the beauties over there in his DSLR. But it is said that no matter how you look and what you wear, if you do not have sophistication and wear etiquette, you are one of the ugliest persons who have no right to be called as a civilized person. Crossing the safety railings for the sake of photography of a leopard and teasing him was the stupidest act of him in which he lost all the respect we had for him as a nature-lover.

Animals are profound living beings that are to be respected, not teased. They are meant to live free, not between 4 walls of domination. It is so pitiful that the incunabula of their lives lay the first stone in the cage and see their lives set amidst the 4 walls itself, unfamiliar with the wild forest where they truly belong.

Do not grow old; grow up, grow wise. The animals are not hungry of flesh; they are hungry of freedom and love, which can be provided by us.

We are social animals, then why the heck don’t we show sociality? People have their eyes wide open, but are still not awake. They are educated, still they lack knowledge. Let us improve ourselves. Let the issue for their freedom be the word of everyone’s mouth. Let us take an oath right here itself not to tease and not to let others tease the national heritage and true wealth of our nation. Let us stop all those educated-illiterates to stop their foolishness and enlighten the sense of manners and love towards animals.

And after all, it is an irrefutable truth that humans are the most dangerous animals themselves! Be wise, stay clever, be HUMAN, wear HUMANITY!
